These carvings are for sale.

The proceeds of the sale go 100% to contribute to paying the school fees of the owners.

The carvings are from Marovo Lagoon in the Solomon Islands and are continuation of an ancient carving tradition there. All the work is custom made, unique and done by hand with basic hand-tools.

Today, carvers use that skill as means of raising income to meet basic needs like education. Carving is an important income generator and a sustainable alternative to extraction industries like logging, which has ravaged so much of the Solomons forest in the last two decades.

All prices negotiable. Fine, hand crafted art with all proceeds to a good cause: Education.

EMAIL for enquiries.

This is a hand crafted (not laithed) bowl. The octopus is the lid and lifts off. The in-lay is different toned timbers and nautilus shell.  They carvers use washed up shells and don't catch the live animals.
